English for Personal and Professional Study

Joining this pathway will give you the opportunity to develop your general English skills while addressing more specific personal, professional or academic needs through our target modules.

This route is aimed at students from a range of backgrounds who wish to develop their language skills in order to enhance their career prospects or who simply wish to improve their proficiency to allow them to communicate more effectively in English. When does the course run?

The courses run all year round, with various start points throughout the year. See our course dates and fees.

How long is the course?

The minimum period of study is four weeks. The length of course you choose will be dependent on your reasons for study and your current level.

What is the class timetable?

You will study for minimum 20 hours per week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am - 3.30pm, Wednesday 10:00am - 3:30pm and Friday 9:30am - 1pm. You will be expected to do some homework and self-study. For further details see the course description.

What is the minimum enrolment age?

The minimum enrolment age is 18.

Do I need a visa?

International students from outside the EU/EAA will require either a Short Term Study Visa or a Tier 4 General Student Visa. More information can be found on the visa guidance page of the main University of Manchester website.
