IELTS 2016-17

Our IELTS courses are designed for people already in the UK, with a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.

The University Language Centre is offering three IELTS preparation courses in 2016/17 to help you to prepare for the IELTS examination.

Please note: The full time course and one day course are available from September 2016.

IELTS One Week Full-time Intensive Exam Preparation Course

  • Total course hours: 23
  • Course fees: £285. A deposit of £40 is required on booking
  • Course duration: This course is a one week, full-time course
  • Timetable: Classes take place Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 4pm

Description

The course is ideal for people who:

  • want to know more about the test;
  • want to practise with some example papers;
  • need to get a specific score in the IELTS test;
  • have taken the IELTS before but not achieved the score they require and therefore must take it again.

Structure

The courses will:

  • focus on the four main skills tested (listening, speaking, reading and writing);
  • familiarise you with the format of each section;
  • develop strategies for dealing with each paper;
  • use examples of the kind of questions used in the test;
  • focus on the main parts of the interview.

Students are provided with a book of practice tests (included in the course fee).

IELTS Part-time Exam Preparation Course

  • Total course hours: 32
  • Course fees: £395. A deposit of £40 is required on booking
  • Course duration: This course is a four week part-time course
  • Timetable: Classes take place Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 6pm (8 hours tuition per week)

Description

The course is ideal for people who:

  • want to know more about the test;
  • want to practise with some example papers;
  • need to get a specific score in the IELTS test;
  • have taken the IELTS before but not achieved the score they require and therefore must take it again.

IELTS One Day Familiarisation Course

  • Total course hours: 5
  • Course fees: £70
  • Course duration: This is a one day course from 9:30am – 4pm taking place on a Friday

Description

The course is aimed at people who have not taken the test before and would like an overview of the test structure.

Entry requirements

IELTS one week intensive and part-time exam preparation course

Upper-Intermediate or above (IELTS 5.5 minimum although course participants with band 5.0 may be permitted to join depending on individual band scores for skill areas). You will be asked to provide evidence of your present level of English when you complete the application form. If you are unable to provide this evidence, you will be asked to take an entry test at ULC in order to establish whether your English is at an appropriate level to follow the course. 

IELTS one day familiarisation course

Students taking this course should be native/near-native speakers or have a very good level of English.

Class size

Maximum class size is 15 students. Please note a minimum number of bookings is required for the course/level to run. 

Minimum enrolment age

The minimum enrolment age is 18.
