One of the many advantages of studying English at the University of Manchester is the possibility of a coherent programme designed to take students from A2 level of the Common European Framework for Languages right through to the levels required for undergraduate/postgraduate study or research. Other pathways provide for progression through an externally validated examination framework.

This course is aimed at students from a range of backgrounds who wish to develop their English language and communication skills or enhance their career prospects.
Our pre-sessional courses are open to international students going on to study undergraduate or postgraduate courses at the University of Manchester.
The University Language Centre is a regional testing centre for IELTS and examination centre for a full range of externally validated English language qualifications.
