University Centre for Academic English Launches September 2022

We have changed

We are excited to say that from 19 September, we became the University Centre for Academic English (UCAE).

We will naturally still be the Centre for our Pre-sessional, English for Academic Purposes, and our Academic Success programmes – and we will still be the partner Centre for our work with the University’s internal Foundation programmes and credit-based units.

However, we have big plans, not least our Trinity Teacher Training programme (Certificate for Practicing Teachers) with Goldsmiths, University of London in 2023, and we look forward to the teaching and learning challenges of the coming years.

University Centre for Academic English

The University Centre for Academic English advances teaching, learning and internationalisation at the University of Manchester by providing best-in-sector Academic English and Skills provision for international students. It aims to empower international Manchester students to become full participants in the University with the intention that each student has the language and skills knowledge to fulfil their potential.

Accredited by both BALEAP (the sector’s professional body for those involved in teaching, scholarship and research into English for Academic Purposes), and the British Council (the most internationally recognized quality assurance scheme for language teaching), UCAE has been ranked the number one University Language Centre for three years running (EL Gazette University Rankings, 2022)
