We understand that travelling to a new country can be a daunting process. When you come to study with us, you will have access to support and advice from our dedicated Student Welfare Officer. 

Throughout your course, the Student Welfare Officer will provide you with advice and information about;

  • life in Manchester
  • non academic welfare matters affecting everyday life
  • health and wellbeing
  • medical treatment and services in the UK (including registering with a GP)
  • safety matters (UK police, security, fraud and scams)
  • financial matters (including opening a UK bank account)
  • police registration
  • accommodation arrangements
  • childcare
  • immigration matters
  • culture and diversity

In addition to the ULC Student Welfare Officer, The University of Manchester has a vast wider support network to guide you throughout your time with us. As a student at the University of Manchester you will also have access to;


Social programme

We want you to enjoy your time at Manchester and experience what this great city has to offer. A full and varied social programme is provided through either the International Society or the Students' Union which includes weekend day trips, overnight trips, evening and social events and much more!

Being part of the International Society and or the Students' Union is a great way for you to meet other students from all around the world, experience different cultures, practise your English and see as much as possible of Manchester and the UK during your stay.
