We understand that travelling to a new country can be a daunting process. When you come to study with us, you will have access to support and advice from our in-house Student Welfare Team.
During your first week, we will provide you with advice and information about:
- life in Manchester
- opening a bank account
- police registration
- registering with a GP
- insurance of personal possessions and general security
The University of Manchester has a vast wider support network to guide you throughout your time with us. Problems dealt with commonly include:
- accommodation arrangements
- visa extensions
- financial matters
- health and wellbeing
- lost luggage claims
As a student at The University of Manchester you will also have access to Student Support Services, the Students' Union Advice Service, the Counselling Service and the Student Services Centre who can advise you about finance, visas and immigration issues.
We want you to enjoy your time at Manchester and experience what this great city has to offer. We have therefore created a full and varied social programme through the International Society which includes weekend day trips, overnight trips, evening and social events and much more!
Being part of the International Society is a great way for you to meet other students from all around the world, experience different cultures, practise your English and see as much as possible of Manchester and the UK during your stay.
All transportation is provided free of charge, as are a number of events. However, you may have to meet the entrance costs for some day trips or activities (e.g. £16 - £30). Weekend overnight trips will incur an additional fee.
